 WorldClient/MDaemon Integration

WorldClient Pro v2.2 has been specially designed so that it can be seamlessly integrated with Alt-N Technologies' MDaemon Server for Windows v3.1 or later. Both WorldClient Pro and MDaemon Version 3 use MDUSER.DLL to access MDaemon's user management system. This functionality makes it possible to synchronize MDaemon and WorldClient accounts so that adding, editing, or deleting an account in WorldClient Pro will cause the same action to be performed in MDaemon. The reverse is true as well; account related actions performed in MDaemon will be mirrored in WorldClient Pro. This synchronization will also apply when changes are made using either of MDaemon's remote configuration utilities: MDConfig and WebConfig.

By using this feature, you will no longer need to import/export accounts to or from MDaemon, nor will you need to duplicate account management actions when performed in one product or the other. When account synchronization is enabled in MDaemon, the first time that an existing MDaemon user logs in to WorldClient, a WorldClient account will be automatically created for them. This method is preferable since it slowly builds user accounts as needed rather than importing your entire user list, which may contain accounts that would otherwise never need to be imported.

In order to synchronize WorldClient Pro v2.2 with MDaemon:

  1. Install both WorldClient Pro v2.2 or later and MDaemon v3.1 or later on the same machine.Synchronization requires both products to be installed on the same machine. Mapping another machine's hard drive in not sufficient.

  2. In MDaemon, click the Setup menu and then WorldClient Server.

  3. Enable/check the checkboxes labeled Enable WorldClient Server, Use WorldClient Pro if it is Installed on this Computer, and Automatically Synchronize Accounts between MDaemon and WC Pro. You should also enable Stop & Start WorldClient Pro when MDaemon Stops & Starts if you would like to make sure that both programs are always running at the same time.

  4. In the [Directories] section of the WorldClient.ini file, make sure that the MDaemonAppDir key exists and specifies the location of the MDaemon \app\ directory (e.g. MDaemonAppDir=C:\MDaemon\APP). This is the path to MDUSER.DLL. The key should be automatically created when synchronization is turned on in MDaemon.

Direct Message Transfer
New to WorldClient v2.2 is the ability to transfer messages directly from your MDaemon user directories into each user's corresponding WorldClient directory without making a POP3 connection to MDaemon. In order for this to be accomplished the POP User setting of the user's WorldClient mailbox corresponding to their local MDaemon account must be the full email address of the account. In the user's system mailbox this will usually be the default setting and "Read Only" to the user, therefore you will not need to do or change anything. In other mailboxes that also correspond to local MDaemon accounts, the user will need to enter their email address as the POP User setting before direct message transfer can take place. WorldClient mailboxes containing just the user's logon name instead of their full email address as the POP User setting will be treated normally; messages will be transferred using POP3 connections.

If you wish to disable this feature then you can do so by setting the following worldclient.ini key:

[Mailboxes]
DirectMDaemonPOP3=No
